As The Rockets Fall

Posted by Radstock Ministries on

"As soon as my bus arrived at the bus station, (the air raid) siren went off… So we are back home to live and to serve."

Yaroslav Nazarkevych has counted the cost. It is going to be cold, dark and sometimes dangerous winter. The rocket attacks on his city can knock out the power and fuel to heat homes is in short supply - not to mention threaten the safety of his young family.

Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Lviv, Yaroslav could have left Ukraine as a war refugee - fathers of 3 or more children were allowed to accompany their families, rather than stay and join the defence effort.  But the whole family has stayed to serve. The church is caring for internally displaced people from Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv - cities on the front lines of the war, wounded soldiers, widows of fallen soldiers, elderly people who are struggling to survive in the austere conditions and more.

They have served more than 50,000 meals, hosted close to ten thousand people fleeing the war, and delivered close to 100 tons of food to people in eastern Ukraine where the fighting is more intense - and they have told countless of these people about Jesus. In Mena, east of Kyiv, Central Baptist Lviv has been giving support to a little church of 20 which has grown to 80 regular attenders since the war began.

But now it is winter, with temperatures below freezing and many houses with no heat.

Radstock has sent funds to help with relief for those in Mena and also to produce warm winter underwear in a factory operated by members of Central Baptist.  This will provide employment for some workers and also produce part of a winter clothing package.

As the winter freeze settles in, here’s how you can make a difference:

Here's How You Can Help:

1. Are You Medically Trained?

You could be useful in Lviv for periods as short as 10 days.

Request more information here.

2. Can You Give To Those In Need?

US$110 (GBP£94) buys one person a “winter clothing package” of warm clothing, including a winter coat.

Boots cost an additional $50/£42.
