news from the Radstock network

bringing hope to myanmar

Posted by Amy Tyson on

The political climate in Myanmar is changing - perhaps best highlighted by the election of democracy advocate and political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi to parliament in April.

Many in Myanmar – along with thousands who fled to Thailand to escape the regime – seem to be catching sight of hope. This one word has been the motto of Aung San Suu Kyi's work throughout her years under house arrest, and she continues to gain support by encouraging the people to have hope for the future of their country.

Ram Lian also has hope for Myanmar's future. The pastor of Grace Family, a Key Church in the Radstock network, sees the election in April as generally successful, and thinks that Myanmar is “changing and improving well now.” But please pray for continuing change – Pastor Ram reports that there are “no changes for church and ministry yet.”

Most importantly, more than political change is needed for there to be real, lasting hope. Grace Family Church is seeking to give hope to the fatherless of their area by providing an orphanage – a place where children without hope can experience the welcoming love of God's family. The Radstock network has provided key support for this project, and, by the grace of God, the build itself is now finished.

“I don't have any funds now,” said pastor Ram. “I really need your help. I have many things still to do...and the children are sleeping on the floor so we really need the beds.”

The children moved into the orphanage last month as that's when schooling started - so the beds are an overdue need!

What could you and your church give to play your part in this ministry of hope?
