EDIT: "I have some great news for you: Seedtime has achieved its funding target for children's masks.

We were able to purchase 1,100 masks, exceeding our original target of 1000. Accordingly we have stopped fundraising immediately."

FUNDRAISING HAS BEEN ACHIEVED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS.

The following post is from our partner Seedtime in Mongolia.  Seedtime's work provides practical aid, micro-loans and business advice to rural communities across the country.

Seedtime's work is an invaluable part of the bigger picture of what's happening with Radstock in Mongolia and we encourage you to give as generously as you can.

Emergency: Young Children Smoking Up To 40 Cigarettes Per Day

Yes, you read that right....

That is what children as young as 5 are inhaling during Ulaanbaatar’s noxious winter smogs, as those living in its ‘yurt’ districts burn tons of poor-quality coal simply to keep warm amid temperatures plunging to around -40 C/F.

A National Emergency

The short-term health costs are enormous, as health facilities are overwhelmed with patients suffering from respiratory tract infections.

Around 500 children die every year from the pollution, and many others do not make it through pregnancy.

In a country of just 3.2 million people, where around half live in Ulaanbaatar, such numbers are a national emergency. But of course, every death is a tragedy.

The long-term effects of air-pollution are said to include impacts to the child’s brain, and that is before we consider the increased risk of respiratory problems and cancers in later life.

Seedtime's 1000 Mask Campaign

Radstock’s local partner, Seedtime, is responding with its ‘1000 Masks’ Campaign. With Radstock partners in Ulaanbaatar, we plan to distribute 1000 child-size pm2.5 filtration masks and filters in some of the worst-affected areas this .

For as little as £3 / $4US, you can give a child up to 20 weeks’ protection.
£15 / $20US will supply a family of 5 for the whole winter.

Follow the link below to our Giving Page. At the end of the process, please mark your donation ‘Seedtime Children’s Masks’.

Your small gift can make a big difference, helping children to stay in school and out of hospital.

FUNDRAISING ACHIEVED. THANK YOU.

Thank you so much!
