Joy Campbell Joins the Radstock Team

Posted by Kara Callaghan on

Joy Campbell, the newest or maybe the oldest recruit to Radstock, joins the team as our new Director of Church Relations and Missionary Support.  Joy will facilitate the volunteer recruitment process and manage communication between churches, volunteers and projects.  We're delighted to have her on board and know she'll be a great asset to our churches and volunteers.  You can begin getting to know her through this Q&A:

When did you first get involved with Radstock?

1983! The first discussions about helping and supporting believers in the former Soviet Union took place in our home all those years ago. Believers in unregistered churches were persecuted, imprisoned and even killed. We promised to tell their story and encourage Christians in the UK to pray and support them. The ironic thing impressed me was that the Russian Christians we met prayed fervently for us to be protected from complacency in our freedom!

Is there a particular aspect of Radstock's vision or mission that drew you in?

The personal church to church relationship adds so much to mission. One can be sent and go knowing that the receiving church will be their family as well.

Tell us about your family.

I am married to Ross who chaired the Radstock board for many years. We have four children. A girl and three boys. Two are married. Three live in the UK. And I miss all four of them now that they have left home!

Tell us about your church.

We are part of a small baptist church in Carrigaline, Ireland. The focus is deliberately on training people for ministry.

What's one thing God is challenging your church on these days?

There is a project this summer to send 14 from church to partner with a church planting initiative in Kamenica, Kosovo. This is a first for us as a church although many individuals have traveled on mission trips.

What's your hidden talent?

That's a hard question. I'm good at shuffling paper, keeping accounts and making wedding cakes!

How is God growing your heart for mission?

Through the teaching at church, the reading that I try to do and the visit we had back in October to the Radstock team in Macedonia.  I realize more and more that my mission to my children and all their friends is changing to look out more widely for people that I can talk to about the gospel.  I pray I will be able to give a good reason for what I believe.  At the moment I can help with the new Munster Bible College, facilitating the courses and assisting the students and assist Radstock, supporting those who are able to travel to different churches and mission contexts.
