Trusting The Lord In The 'Interruptions'

Posted by Katy Jones Parry on

Katy Jones Parry - Chair, Radstock N.Europe Board

"I was so sure the Lord called me to this - but now look!"

Many of us will have said, or thought, words like these. Thwarted plans; interruptions; frustrations - getting in the way of our good works for Jesus.

At our last Board meeting we acknowledged this. There were more not-yet-done 'action points' than we would have expected or hoped.

But we knew the reasons why.
And the Lord does too.

"All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." (Psalm 139:16)

Together we remembered that what felt like distractions were in fact the labours the Lord has been calling each of us to: joining Him at work in our families, churches and neighbourhoods - even if not in the ways, times and places we might have chosen.

"There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens."

But still, faced with frustrations, we can (secretly) fear,
"How will this church and network grow,
these peoples be reached,
God's kingdom come...?
"
(Subtext: 'without me!')

A little further in Ecclesiastes we hear,
"Everything God does will endure forever;
nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it.
God does it so that people will fear him.
" (Eccl. 3:14

And we are reassured, and humbled, as God restores us and Himself to our rightful places once again.

This summer, may we across the Radstock network truly be faithful in what God is doing - whether than matches our plans or feels like interruptions.

Let us be 'faith-full' that all that God plans and does will endure forever, and neither our involvement nor our absence can add to or take away from it. Alleluia!
