Last December, Rapport shared the exciting introduction of 'In the Beginning', a project to produce booklets containing both Genesis and John's Gospel and distribute them across Mongolia, in partnership with local churches.
Half a year on, pastor Oggie Yoshua is conscious that some church leaders are cautious about this as-yet-untried - and so far unpublished - resource. "And of course, the evil one does not like this evangelistic movement."
Another obstacle is that the printing is only around 30% funded - not yet enough for the initial print run of 15,000 copies. Oggie is thankful for partners who can help fund these words, to help people find the Word. "This can be a powerful tool for reaching lost souls," he says.
With Mongolian culture consumed by different religions and gods, it is especially important for believers to know the character of the one powerful God who created everything - and to understand that their Saviour Christ the Son is one with "the one and only God... the Father... who is supreme... full of love... just and true."
The project is also a great opportunity for Mongolia's 70-80,000 believers (c.3% of the population) to grow, and to work together. Most of the country's 650 churches are in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, presenting the exciting challenge of taking the Gospel to the many nomadic, unreached, people across the vast country.
Meditating on 2 Corinthians 3:18, Oggie asks us to pray with him to see the reflection of the Lord's glory every day, and be transformed into the image of Jesus, the Word who was God - in the beginning.
Oggie and Navchaa are hoping to print 15,000 copies of 'In the Beginning' - 5,000 of each of 3 versions:
- Large font for elderly and nomads
- Classic version for city people
- Contemporary version for youth
Printing each book costs $2 USD / £1.60 / €1.85 / $2.75 CAD
(more will be needed for training and distribution costs)
So far c.30% of the printing costs have been raised. Could you or your church sponsor 10 / 100 / 1000 copies?
Please give through your regional Radstock office, selecting 'In The Beginning' or including this as a reference / payment note.
