This month, 5 young adults and 2 leaders will be thousands of miles from their Balkan homes, serving with two Cambodian church networks: House of Smile, led by Pastor Bunna Yin; and Nexus Center led by Pastor Mao An.
Working in Phnom Penh and a number of villages, the team will join in the churches' ongoing programs to help give extra energy to their church planting ministries.
"With most Cambodians from a Buddhist background, Christians are sometimes persecuted or pressured. We hope to be an encouragement and practical help to these small churches," writes team member Timote.
The team will be helping to build a children's playground, teach English, and run an evangelistic youth event. "We will have opportunities to share our testimonies and most importantly our lives," explains Rigel, team co-leader. "We believe God will use the gifts He has given us - called to make disciples not only in our countries, but anywhere there is the need."
With many years' missional mentoring in Cambodia and the Balkans, Brain and Audrey Jose have been key to the relationships expressed by this Radstock network partnership. 18-year-old Edina recalls: "This trip is very special for me because it was just a dream some years ago, when Teta* Audrey was telling me stories of so many amazing people she got to meet there.
Pastor Bunna is excited too - not least hoping members of the team can help young, gifted Cambodians appreciate that what they have is from God.
"Told by their atheist, materialist society that they are the most-to-be-pitied people on earth, these young Albanians are the first generation with the great advantage of being raised in Christian homes," observes Brian. "To them, in fact, much has been given. My prayer is that they will understand that much is also required. I read that in a book somewhere."
